Trachinotus carolinus, the Florida Pompano After nearly six years, Bloody Bill has run his course on sharks, so it’s about time he uses his knowledge of the many other amazing species you might see out there. I started this thing educate readers and to learn to love what I’ve grown to love about the ocean and the creatures that inhabit the waters in our area. Peoples like the Bussens, the Fishes, and the Myers know more about these fish than I ever could, but I’ll do my best to... [Read more...]

Kristin Korb Kristin Korb isn’t just a singing bassist. The Glendale, California-based jazz artist is also a self-described rebel and premier singer with a personal approach and a deep sense of swing. While studying privately with jazz bass icon Ray Brown, Korb enlisted him to arrange her first Telarc recording with his own trio. That album, Introducing Kristin Korb, garnered unanimous critical acclaim,... [Read more...]

Raleigh By Rhett Fischer After finally finding the Jack Russell ad we were waiting for, my ex-girlfriend and I made the trip to Sebastian to pick up our boy. He was known to his owner as “The Talker,” and we soon found out why. To this day, after two years of life, this dog still talks in strange, cute ways. This is the pet you look forward to coming home to. Every day, I can’t wait to see him waiting at he door for my arrival. A good friend likes to call him “Chase”... [Read more...]

Kingfish numbers are back along the high-bar area and around the Pines, north of Sebastian Inlet in about 50 to 60 feet of water. The kings are mostly 8 to 12 lbs. with an occasional 20-lb. smoker sneaking through your baits and leaving you with a racing heartbeat and usually a bird’s nest on the spool. Make sure if you use live baits to run them with a stinger hook to help keep the short strikes down. Live bait is very scarce and you need to make everyone count! Cobia have been mixed in with... [Read more...]

Either the editor is a glutton for punishment or just a really nice guy, ‘cuz my ass should have been canned a loooong time ago. If I had to lay odds, I’d say he is a little of both, but I’m lucky... [Read more...]

Boardrider of the Month: Mike Duffield Interview by Scooter Newell Mike Duffield is a nice guy. I’ve skated and surfed many sessions with him and he’s always in good spirits. I’ve never seen him get upset or mad, ever. I even broke the seat in his truck before an 8-hour road trip to see if he would get mad, but he didn’t. Always smiling and a blast to be around, Mike D is sure to raise the fun factor at any session. On top of all this niceness, he’s been a great supporter... [Read more...]
