The Sandbar’s 6th Anniversary Party

It’s hard to believe, but the Sandbar in Cocoa Beach will be celebrating six years of success as a popular bar, restaurant, and live music venue on Saturday, March 12.

As part of the festivities, the good folks at the Sandbar will be hosting a free concert featuring reggae legends Pato Banton & New Generation and the groups Red Tide and the Mammoth Band.

In the short time since its founding, the Sandbar, which also boasts a location in Melbourne Beach, has become a Cocoa Beach fixture, and their commitment to good times (and world famous fish tacos) has made time spent there part and parcel of any authentic local experience.

Given a fresh new look, thanks to some recent renovations, the Sandbar will also be unveiling a new menu this month with loads more fresh seafood specials as part of their aim to keep moving forward as a Cocoa Beach mainstay.

The day kicks off at 3 p.m. with a performance by the Mammoth Band, followed by a 7 p.m. set by Red Tide. Comprised of four young locals, Red Tide play classic rock n’ roll informed by genre stalwarts like Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, the Doors, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. At 10 p.m., Pato Banton takes the stage to dispense his unique blend of wisdom, rhythm, and universal positivity. Over the past 25 years, the London-born reggae artist has achieved incredible success touring North and South America while touching down in faraway places as part of Peter Gabriel’s internationally-acclaimed WOMAD tour, which eventually led to his creation of several children’s music workshops around the world.

So come celebrate the Sandbar’s 6th Birthday with good people, delicious food and drink, and rump-shaking, uplifting tunes. Toast them on their good fortune — and vow to celebrate much more for years to come.

The Sandbar is beautifully situated where 520 meets the beach, at 4301 Ocean Beach Blvd. in Cocoa Beach; 799-2577. Their 6th Anniversary concert starts at 3 p.m. No cover charge. To find out more about this and other events throughout March, visit
