The Cocoa Beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation conducted a beach cleanup at Minutemen Causeway in conjunction with the Slater Brothers’ Surf Contest on November 7. Surfrider members and other volunteers collected numerous bags of trash, with a particular focus on removing cigarette butts. Our younger volunteers collected 13 water bottles full of butts from the area immediately in front of Coconuts. Surfrider Foundation, Cocoa Beach Chapter By John Hearin surfrider.cocoabeach@gmail.com On September 19, members of the Cocoa Beach Surfrider Chapter participated in the Coastal Cleanup, a County-wide effort sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy and Keep Brevard Beautiful. Volunteers met at Ramp Road and proceeded to the Banana River Lagoon aboard kayaks and the SS Pegasus, provided by Fin Expeditions.
