Samantha Lucas from the Apalachicola Reserve will be presenting on zooplankton, which play an integral role in coastal food webs. They are an important food source for many organisms and serve as a link between primary producers and higher-level consumers. To fully understand this linkage, more information is needed on zooplankton community structure, distribution, and response to environmental conditions. In 2016, a long-term monitoring project was initiated to begin characterizing the zooplankton communities of Apalachicola Bay. Sam will share information on spatial and temporal distribution patterns observed in these communities over a two-year period (2018-2019).
